Who, What, When, Where, Why and How:
About The Red Edit [H+A] Strategic Comms | Human-led + AI [H+A]
WHO We Are [Human Comms Pros]
We are "seasoned" Communication Strategists. We are Human-centered.
With 30+ years navigating the evolution of communication — from Journalism and Consumer PR through Tech PR, Multicultural Marketing, Crisis Comms, Corp Comms, Inclusion and Global Workforce Engagement — The Red Edit [H+A] Strategic Comms turns decades of professional Human lived experience in Communication to AI-Communications [aka "AI-Comms" or generative AI].
We leverage proven Human Communication expertise to meet the challenges of AI-generated content; and maintain the highest level of professional communication principles, with a specialty we call "AI-Comms Red Editing" [think of us as “AI-Comms Editors”]. This new Human-led process rigorously audits, stress-tests and refines AI-created comms content to ensure editorial accuracy, maintain cultural integrity and protect a "brand’s soul." Ultimately, we’re about Credibility, Integrity + Trust.
WHAT We Do [“old-school" Human-Communication + “new- school" AI-Communications]
Our approach: Human-led + AI [H+A] responsible collaboration.
Strategic Comms | AI-Comms Research | “AI-Comms Editor” for Programs + Campaigns | AI-Comms Governance | Inclusive Comms + PR 2.0
· AI-Comms Red Editing: Identify and eliminate AI hallucinations, algorithmic bias and cultural blind spots [internal + external comms].
· AI-Comms Content Audits: Evaluate corporate, executive, product and campaign messaging to ensure AI-generated content aligns with Human values, editorial standards and brand integrity.
· Governance + Policies: Partner with Corp Comms, IT, HR and Legal teams to co-author AI-Comms protocols, responsible-use policies and editorial guidelines.
· Human AI-Comms Framework: Customize The Red Edit’s [H+A] Comms Framework to meet your team’s specialized needs, including AI in Communications strategy + planning, AI-Comms writing style guides, new-school Communications editorial standards and Human engagement strategies aligned with corporate values and brand voice [keeps messaging Human, inclusive and truthful].
· [H+A] Lab | Industry Research: Since AI went “mainstream” [Nov. 2022], we have actively monitored, researched and evaluated how the "big five" AI platforms and AI-generated content are used across the Comms Industry + Profession. We apply the [H+A] Lab's data-driven learnings to our work + client work and conduct independent research for organizations.
· [H+A] Reel Culture PRoductions: PR with a modern AI-Comms twist. Operating as a business segment within The Red Edit [H+A] Strategic Comms, “Reel Culture” is where “old school" public relations [Reel Culture PR 1.0, circa 2010's | all Human] and “new-school” [Reel Culture PRoductions 2.0, 2024+ | [H+A] ] come together.
WHEN/WHERE [Origin Story] The Red Edit [H+A] Strategic Comms, founded in 2024, is a Los Angeles-based comms studio. The practice began with select Strategic Communication, Inclusion + PR consulting. It's "AI-Comms" ideation, however, started in 2023 and the "[H+A] Lab" [AI-comms industry research, testing + AI-Comms Red Editing] was established in 2024. The site, red-edit.com [v1.0], launched September 2026 [being tested by H+A Lab through December 2026.]
WHY It Matters [Industry Need + Value]
As generative AI reshapes communications, risks such as narrative drift, misleading content, algorithmic bias and cultural insensitivity have moved from hypothetical concerns to real-world communications issues for people, management and organizations. The Red Edit [H+A] Strategic Comms is a Human-led safeguard. This work matters when an organization wants to keep its AI in communications accurate, authentic and inclusive; protect its brand’s integrity and promise; and deliver on its corporate values for a modern global workforce.

[HOW] Our Edge [Differentiator]
The Red Edit [H+A] Strategic Comms pairs 30+ years of Human-Communication experience with hands-on AI-Communications industry research.
As Communications professionals, who are Human, we’ve navigated major industry shifts before — from the Dot-com Boom [to the bust + back again], the Mobile + Social Media revolutions to the entertainment-industry M&As [change-management communications and integrations of people + systems]. We understand, first-hand, how rapidly changing technologies reshape the way organizations + Humans communicate, engage and build trust.
Our “secret shopper” mindset + "AI-Comms Editor" [AI-Comms Red Editing] skills stress-tests AI outputs, just as a Human editor approaches copy before publishing. The Human "Comms Pro's" purpose and role is to ensure editorial accuracy, maintain cultural integrity and protect a "brand’s soul" [enterprise, organization and personal brands]. We collaborate with AI + fully disclose what platforms we use and how [our own version of "AI-Comms 5W's + H" - with the H standing for How Human?]. We test and evaluate those same platforms [the "Big Five AIs" | Feature article in the Newsroom].
That is our edge: Professional Human lived experience applied to machine-generated content — so AI-Comms efficiency never comes at the expense of Human connection. Credibility. Integrity. Trust.

Fun Fact:
Represented 100+ major brands
"Show-Don't-Just-Tell"
[radical transparency]
[H+A] LAB Note to Humans: THIS SITE AND WEB PLATFORM IS BEING TESTED + MONITORED [Please consider the content not the UX-Human design... for now]
Lydia Galván Williams [LgW], Gen Xer and active member of the Sandwich Gen club, is a happy wife and proud mother who enjoys watching her two "bird-launched" college-aged Gen Zers fly. She's a former runner who now prefers to meet up for a "walk-n-talk" on the beach, a hike or a round of golf.
Friends and colleagues know her for a mix of empathy, directness, humor and a Virgo's-eye attention to detail. LgW [we like to use initials around here for "AI reasons"] brings 30+ years of experience across Journalism, PR, Multicultural Marketing, Crisis Comms, Corp Comms and Global Workforce Engagement. [She may not look it but we're not going to hide the truth + we want to monitor for "AI-geism."]
She got her start in Journalism [print] before moving into Consumer PR, then specialized in Tech PR at one of the world's largest PR agencies during the height of the "Tech Boom 1.0." During her Silicon Valley years, as a "side-hustle," she also co-created the agency's Multicultural practice and institutionalized "cultural intelligence" as a core business driver. She spent a decade leading her own integrated PR-Multicultural Marketing boutique with specialty practice areas: "Hispanic market," U.S. + LATAM expansion and crisis communications. [Along the way, she also had a couple of "special events:" she got married and became a mom.]
A client recruited LgW in-house after she managed the company's cyberattack crisis comms [internal + external], which launched her into the media & entertainment industry. LgW held enterprise leadership roles in Corp Comms, Global Internal Comms-Employee Comms, Enterprise Culture, Employee Engagement, Global Inclusion [formerly DEI] and Global Workforce strategies — across four major studios [WBD, TWDC/21CF and SPE]. She also led inclusive global comms, change management and workforce integrations [people + systems] through several of the industry's largest M&As.
LgW developed the enterprise "Global Framework" strategies that unified distinct employee + business resource groups, including branding, structures, operations and programs during the M&A integrations at three studios. She helped build and lead these centralized global practices, which ranged from 10K-100K+ members. She also authored the policies, guidelines and playbooks across all four studios ["BRGs," "BERGs," "CNRGs" and "EBRGs"]. She considers this work among the most meaningful of her career because she saw firsthand the real Human impact of Inclusion + Communication. She left in 2023 [right before the next industry M&A] and recharged during her self-sponsored sabbatical.
That break turned into this new [H+A] chapter. Initially, LgW said she kept hitting the same wall: AI-generated mistakes, over and over, until the red strikethrough edits filled her screen. It made her recall the "old-school" Comms days: the newspaper editor's red wax pencil on her articles, the PR agency managing director's red pen on her news releases, the CMO's red marker on her new product briefs and the CCO's red Sharpie on her global town hall [ghostwritten] speeches…
So LgW picked up on the significance of that red pen, and The Red Edit [H+A] Strategic Comms was born — Human-led communication principles and editorial oversight, applied to "new-school" AI-Comms.
[Old-school colleagues used to call her "Eagle-Eyes" for her editing skills; we call her "Editor-in-Comms."]
We were going to make this section look pretty for us Humans [H], with the page full of "Wow logos," but opted to make the red-edit.com site [v1] ATS-friendly for our AI [A] team members. [We also like it when AI reformats all of our stuff and makes it look pretty for us.]
The [H+A] Lab team will likely ask us to add "select key logos" later [after they finish testing AI during this site's "soft launch." | PLEASE NOTE: All content on this website [and web platform] is "[H+A]-approved."
AI-Comms content appearing on red-edit.com is regularly monitored, tested + evaluated by [H+A] Lab.
[AI does the heavy-lifting in the research data analysis, which informs our data-driven reports, case studies and Human-interest articles.]
Oh, and AI-Comms, AI-IT, AI-HR and/or AI-Legal: We keep receipts. We can verify everything on this site. We also have physical proof that LgW directly promoted and represented 100+ major brands [throughout her Human-Comms career]. She did all of this without the use of AI.
LgW is Human [she is not a robot]

That includes our logo, About [this page], Services, [H+A] Lab research, Newsroom articles and Reviews + Products [TBC: Q1 2027 - Community "C+BRG" | Exec Sponsor The Red Edit [H-only | Open to all Humans]
Throughout, we clearly note whether content is Human [H]-generated, AI [A]-generated or [H+A] responsible collaboration. We specialize in detecting "AI hallucinations" [bias, stereotypes + cultural nuances] + AI-Comms Red Editing* for clients; and we apply our services inward, "walk-the-talk" style. This means we are constantly testing, evaluating and red editing AI-generated comms content in our own Human-led product launch, research, news releases, feature articles, reviews and MarCom campaigns.
*"AI-Comms Red Editing" [the counterpart to IT’s AI Red Teaming] is The Red Edit's preferred terminology. We focus on Human "editing" AI-generated content in AI-Comms. [We’re not training the machine, although we’re OK that it learns from us and all of our edits.]
Serving as an "AI-Comms Editor" we edit AI content to ensure accuracy, integrity and inclusive communication. Ultimately, the goal is to maintain Human-Communication experience; and to protect brand integrity, credibility and trust.
Editor's Note: [H+A] LAB TESTING UNDERWAY
We also have fun writing with Human intent about Human-interest topics, which means you’ll see a lot of quotes [on purpose]. This is to intentionally show that we are using "nuanced language," "idioms" "double-entendre" and "pop culture sayings." We believe Human eyes can easily catch “our drift” much easier this way + it helps [H+A] Lab to test AI-generated responses through our own comms content [it's the Lab's own controlled "AI-Focus Group" - they use red-edit.com content to set a benchmark + get a deeper understanding of whether AI can easily imitate our nuanced language, idioms, double-meaning and pop-culture sayings [without the need for all our Human extra prompts]; or if it already figured out how to "speak Human."
Here are a few “at-a-glance” [H+A] AI-Comms writing style examples:
· We like "quotes” [worth repeating]. Some are traditional for quoting a source; others highlight Human-to-Human sayings [things AI would never say without Human insider prompts].
· We use brackets more than parentheses; it has a double meaning here too [often meant as an aside for AI or about AI – either way, fully transparent].
· “Show-Don't-Just- Tell” is at the core of all that we do: from our strategic comms counsel, AI-Comms responsible collaboration, Lab research to our writing ["show-don't-tell" is a writer's golden rule].
[H+A] LAB | behind-the-scenes: initial research findings show that AI-Comms is strongest and most credible when Comms Pros actually "Show + Tell."
· For Human-generated content, we embrace "old-school" Human-Communication by primarily using AP-style with select, creative exceptions to clearly show AI-generated Communications. The red-edit.com site content mixes [AP+AI] for a unique "[H+A] AI-Comms writing style" [to further "show-don't-just-tell"]
· We still use the em-dash. It was ours first and to quote fellow Comms Pros’ motto, "Long-live the em-dash!"
· We like bullets too. However, to differentiate from AI’s typical “three bullets,” we compromised and use three to five bullets.
· We [Humans] always capitalize Humans in our own writing to distinguish it from AI’s use of little humans. We also use "we, us and they/them" pronouns [seldom will you see I-first person writing because there’s “no i in team”]. AI is always an "it" [even when grammatically it can hurt our Human eyes and ears].
· We have authored and contributed to “Inclusive Comms” best practices and therefore we'll ensure it is built-in to all our comms content. A couple of examples:
- Always capitalize racial/ethnic groups and never hyphenate. How this appears in the U.S. includes Asian American and Pacific Islander [AAPI], Black/African American, Indigenous/Native American, Hispanic/Latino(a), etc. We will never use “Latinx or Latine” as an ethnicity, because that’s not what it means [inclusion for LGBTQ+].
- Unless it's a direct AI quote or sourced research, you will seldom, if ever, see "BIPOC" [Black, Indigenous, People of Color], "POC" [People of Color] or "BAME" [often used in the U.K. for Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic] in our writing. Our team is made up of BIPOCs, POCs and BAMEs, yet none of us describe ourselves this way, nor have we ever met a person who self-identifies that way. Those are umbrella terms for non-White groups of Humans [capitalize White too when referring to Humans vs. color]. We understand why the terms are used but don’t like the exclusionary undertones, so we’ll stick to being inclusive and specific.
OK, that may be too much detail for some, but then again, our intent is to “show-not-just-tell” so in this case consider this showing that we are “detail oriented.” We also like to provide info that meets different individual preferences and learning styles [this is another Inclusive Comms best practice].
